VIA, or any other "public transit" system CAN be cool, but, if you want to experience the total frigid road trip,,, go greyhound with nothing but a canvas carry-on, and the rags on your back. The "nekkidness", and dissconnection from your regular world,is [was for me], incredibly liberating.AND, can provide insite, perspective,etc., not to mention fertile fodder to post. I'm planning just such a "roots" journey to OK.& KAS., late this autumn. If you bring enough SPAM & crackers,,,you can go with. OKD
