i'm here...drowning in sonic confusion

i'm here, though my brain is GONE... after spending hours buried in extracting and installing stuff from that lovely disc you sent me aeons ago, then poring over many a .pdf or helpfile trying to LEARN HOW to WREAK NOISE, and how to WRING IT from this box KICKING and SCREAMING in FITS (and sometimes even a few STARTS as well.)

so far, my results are disappointing, mostly because i didn't know what i was doing 13 years ago when i mixed down these tracks that i am trying to clean up now. {your declicker definitely helped, once i finally figured out what the deal was with the "audition" button.} but the tracks are goanna be essentially unlistenable to most everyone other than myself, for the most part. i am just going to put them online as a historical sort of thing, since the stories behind them are so weirdly incredible. then it's time to move on to making new ones, which will take some more know how in the sequencing. i am so confused about midi - about output and input, since so much of the software's designed for use with actual keyboards or microphone inputs or other sound-in devices. but i don't know how to configure them to just use nox illuminatus and 500 directx plug-ins to do the job.

what i want to do is take sounds that i concocted and plug them into measures, beats and ticks.

i can't for the life of me find anything that looks even a little like the old mac performer proggie i used in '89 to do the monomaniacal minimalist rhythmtracks in CHORONZON.

if you ever come to san francisco, man, i need "non-music" lessons.
