If she sees you've called her American, she will NOT be pleased. She is STAUNCHLY Canadian, and will not tolerate anything American, especially Dr. Popeye X! I can't even type out the word, Austr.... , you know the one, it gives me a horrible stomach ache, and makes me behave in ways I don't quite understand.
