"There's Adam Clymer, major league asshole from the New York Times." An Aside to Dick Cheney as they stood together this morning on a Labor Day rally platform in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Cheney responded, "Oh yeah, he is, big time." A Bush spinner said the Texas Governor is angry with reporter Clymer because he wrote about Bush's Texas record. More than once. During the rally, Bush told the crowd that it was "time to get some plain-spoken folks'' in Washington, D.C., but observers assume he didn't mean that plain-spoken. --9/4/00 from a Reuters report.
Ha! Did anyone see this on Letterman or their local news channel? I sure did. Letterman ran it repeatedly and suggested that Cheney was just going along with George and doesn't know who Clymer is. Hilarious stuff, but not a damn thing about it in this morning's Portland Oregonian, nor anything on cnn.com.
And speaking of assholes, Dick Cheney toured the state of Oh-ree-gone a couple of weeks ago. His only statement of import was to point out that Oregonians are full of shit for wanting high gas prices investigated (gas prices in Oregon are the highest in the country right now except Hawaii). Nice move, Dick!
The Republican ticket is all lower body parts this year: One Dick, One Asshole.
