I was saddened by the recent news on the corruption at SAPD et al. But in all fairness the et al has to include mankind in general. The realization that life is short, work is hard and health is expensive can unnerve the stoutest of beings. Some fools numb themselves to oblivion, others are thrill seekers, yet more pad themselves with tinkering pastimes to lull themselves into purposefullness. When a close friend of mine was framed in Chicago I went to my girlfriend who always dated cops to ask her advice. She knew the cops who were involved. One of them always had drugs on him. Supposedly only to drop down on a suspect if the schmuck lost the evidence. She smiled as she told me "dont you know that the cops always have the best dope". The point is not drugs-the crime is abuse. To abuse our bodies is not good. To abuse the people who must loose their country to guntoting hooligans smacks of slavery. People will always get high whether on God, Jim Jones, olympic sports (making chidren perform with torn ankles is abuse) inducing endorphens to feign bravado, buying that extra car to look good but having to spend that time at work (or at crime) instead of with your kids (I guess thats only neglect) who can say what is worst. I have a real sad image of coke. I think it was from National Geographic. Some old lady was being manhandled by soldiers. They were yanking her burlap sack of coca leaves. She can't grow anything else. The farming conglomerates are too much (Juan Valdes etc.) She probably has emeralds on the land but try and sell them and the cartels will overrun the place. Only her drug masters will let her raise her little plot of coke for a pittance of what the stuff goes for. The authorities do have the best dope. They know what is going on and when a few bad apples get close to the real action its time to isolate them from the real action and close them down before they really get connected.
