Thanks for reminding us about the book. I read it way back in my "crunchy" days (before my hair ran away) at the tail-end of a real smartass point in my life. I had been through all that Carlos Castaneda crap and Godel/Escher/Bach spew, then got turned onto Sagan and "Connections" by James Burke, both of which turned my head around the right way and let me walk away forever from the philosophical claptrap way of life. (I also stopped dropping acid about that time, which probably had something to do with it. At any rate, I recognized the true value of Castaneda was as first-rate kindling.)

I'm going to get another copy of Broca's brain. Get "Connections" and see if you don't agree that it is the coolest book of all time. There was a BBC series of the book by the same name, but it was nowhere near as great as the book. James Burke also recently published "The Knowledge Web." It's an attempt to put together the great ideas and inventions of history in the same format as the World Wide Web, with literary "hyperlinks" cross-referencing different phases of inventions across centuries. God, that explanation blows. Fuck it, get the book. I'm reading it for the third time because I enjoyed it SO much.

Well, enough seriousness. I'm going back to being an asshole now. Thanks for the break.
