ever fascinated with power in general, and the entire spectrum of the entrancing, sick, nefarious ways that various kinds of people behave when they get a little (or a large) taste of it, when i heard caligula was playing at my favourite local fag movie house (seriously, the lumiere is the kind of place that mostly runs obscure art films by gay directors - in other words, it's got more CONTENT than the fuckin' hollywoodkrap twelve-plex on van ness has, and what's more it's got CHARACTER.) anyway, one week i saw that caligula was running there.

i dun' usually notice actors much: they pretty much bore the crap out of me sex-wise. i remember thinking after seeing this and clockwork orange that malcolm mcdowell would actually be quite mesmerizing looking to me if only he didn't have such short hair (gadzooks, what a ridiculous fetish this is, especially when you have idiot WWF wrestler types being the only long haired males you even see on television. and they're too idiotic looking/acting for the hair to save them.)

anyway, i figured it out. malcolm mcdowell is NUTS. you can see it in his eyes. you can't play Alex from Clockwork Orange or Caligula that convincingly without those crazy eyes. those crazy eyes are not fake. i think the guy really must be at least semi-psychotic.

caliguls the actual emperor is a fine example of what inbreeding does to people...god, and i complain about george w. bush as a political ruler...
