I know what you mean. I was surprised when Robert Young joined Bing Crosby, Beverly Sills and Ogden Nash. It was a relief that he was only with them a short time. I always thought that trembly falsetto sounded like shit and his two-chord songs were monotonous, and he was a lousy doctor besides.
