the clam shell, my notorious toenail on my big toe, right foot, all my girlfriends know this toenail well, it used to have fungus growing under it, thank God it no longer stinks, the product of a pillow fight between me and Kyle in 1964, my toe went under a couch, my toenail did not, you know rough boys play sometimes, this baby got torn off in a split second, yes it hurt, hell yes, but what grew back was not from this evolutionary era, always referred to as "the clam shell", it looks like a clam shell, not a toenail, its the only ugly thing about my feet, Nancy raves about how "pretty" my feet are, but she never got a good look at the clam shell. Lynee Proffitt (my g/f in 1971) still talks about it, she is thoroughly disgusted by it, Cathy Cunningham (78-84) knows it well, she also doslikes it and shudders at the mere mention of it. Occasionally, most of it will start moulting, and I'll tear it off. Its strange. Its really thick and made of deformed toenail fibers, it has weird shit growing on the bottom side. Its impossible not to chew on it a little, just to test its thickness, it never tasted that bad, its the skin under it that stinks. I'm surprised Nancy didn't notice it, I guess she was admiring the almost feminine beauty of the rest of my feet. Alas, lately I have tweaked too much, and my feet turned to blood red itchy elephant stumps. When the speed ran out, they swelled back down, and began peeling. Ah yes, the joys of geezer foot skin! Very a-peeling! And thru it all, like a shining monument to little boys at play, the clam shell remains, unchanged by the eons.
