You don't need to pull that stuff out, stash. Just mulch around yer plants. That crabgrass and nutgrass won't really do much harm to the stuff that ain't underground (like onions and taters'n whatnot). Just take some shredded tree bark, or even hay or lawn clippings, and mulch it around yer plants to keep down the weeds and hold in moisture.
