LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - A Long Island, N.Y., man was being held on bail Thursday after allegedly throwing an ax at his grand- mother because she didn't prepare his sandwich properly. Police arrested Craig Daniels, 20, and charged him with assault, reckless endangerment and felony criminal mischief after the violent outburst Wednesday over an egg sandwich. The unidentified 63-year-old grandmother received only minor injuries after being smashed over the head with a cell phone and a flashlight and having an ax thrown at her, Nassau County Detective Lt. Gregory Detwiller told the New York Post. "And it was all over an egg sandwich. He didn't like the way his grandmother made it and he flew into a rage," he said. The terrified woman hid in her locked bedroom until she heard the police arrive. But when she opened the door, her grandson immediately flung the ax, which she managed to block with the door. Daniels, who is being held on $50,000 bail, has a prior arrest for assaulting another family member.
