SYDNEY, Australia - Prison inmates in Australia are getting desperate for a little reprieve from the everyday bore of prison life. As a result, they have been engaging in a strange, not to mention dangerous, hobby. According to government records, the prisoners have been breeding deadly spiders, milking them for venom and injecting the poison to get high. Four redback spiders were discovered by author- ities in a maximum security jail in New South Wales. The spiders, common in Australia, can kill a child or an older person with just one bite. Officials say the inmates had been diluting the venom before shooting up. This information was revealed by lawmakers who are opposed to the Labor-led government in South Wales.
