Yes, all very good advice. As a member of a guitar internet group I was approached to write some information regarding being a guitarist that procures and fulfills contracts. This first article is as I was requested to do, tell my life story and give a little advice on being a "working musician". The rhythm part you spoke of is very true, being able to shread is quite satisfying, but most of what you will be asked to do is in fact rhythm, be it Jobim, Broadway or Chuck Berry. This is only the first article of several I plan to write for this gentleman. My resume and photographs of theater I have played prompted some curiosity from the group. Since most of what I do now is theater or production shows, I know what's it's like to interperate and breath emotion into what a music director and the score dictates. In other words, at the age of 50, my motto is " accommodation, not domination", at 25 my motto was "experience=money....money=experience". For those of us that need to make a living plying our craft, flexibility, patience, and respect are invaluable tools. The free lesson website has a variety of experienced players from around the world that approach this topic in different ways.
