ughhh... waking up after a night of drinkin' and druggin' can be hard sometimes, I am totally DRUG FREE, that means I can have all I can stand, strange thing about last night, we were kind of standing around with our thumbs up our asses, and thru another blind accident, Eugene NG, owner of Krazy Kat music, was in the Keith Emerson Band dressing room, getting his first big dose of Will Alexanderism, Eugene didn't realize I was standing there, most people don't recognize me anymore, I look so old, and that was a funny surprise. When Eugene started calling me his hero and lumping me in with Keith, who was standing there, I became very uncomfortable. I don't mind adoration, but let's bring it back to Earth a little bit, I can't possibly see myself being anything more than a dumpster gnat compared to a real composer, but Eugene is known for being a sweet guy, I asked him, "How's your mom? Please tell her I said hello." He says, "I can't believe you remember her." "Remember her? Your mom is COOL." It was fun watching Eugene probe Will with intelligent questions, every once in a while I had to pipe in my comments because Will won't brag about himself enough, so I provide color comment sidekick bragging for Will, kind of the Mugtoe effect. Then, for some reason, Morris Kalt's name came up and there was this really sad moment, I was profoundly saddened by it, this morning, or afternoon, the residue of the kaliedoscopic evening turns out to be thoughts of Morris. Everyone said nice things about him, it was just like what he would have wanted, to be remembered fondly, and yet, I cannot bring myself to smile, not yet, I'm still in the crying phase. Too close to it. I hope somewhere out there, somehow, some way, God, or whatever, is taking care of Morris Kalt, giving him rest, or whatever it is that dead people need. I feel priveledged to have known him all his life, or most of it. That's a real heartbreaker, right there.
