north is a bad direction

from: especially on a bike

I just got back from an ordeal. I rode my bicycle about a 1/4 of a mile, that's right, about 1300 feet, maybe a little further, lets say 1800 feet, traveling north by northeast, almost north, ok? We're talkin' 2 or 3 spaced out driveways, plus an open field. By the time I got to the Jack In The Box, I was in bad shape, breathless and shaking, simply from the northern wind blowing down the street. Cold is bad, it fucks up your center of gravity, but its the wind that kills you. I can't let it hit me at all, I can feel myself dying from just trying to breathe. It takes about 10 minutes to recover from going there. Coming back was no problem at all, it wasn't warm, but it wasn't killing me. Just going sort of north HURTS. Its brutal. The only times I've been sick is when I tried to ride down the street in a northerly direction WITHOUT several sets of clothing on. That's how I learned about scarves. You see yankees wearing them all the time in artwork containing snowmen. Also mittens. Those things are ESSENTIAL. You can DIE out there! Give me Meskin weather any day of the week.
