I wonder about the "get a job" part. Not sure what their reference point is. Who said I don't have a job? I've always known what I need to do in life, and I always assumed that's what my job.could be, or should be. Why teenagers feel a sense of superiority just because they're driving by in a truck is beyond me. By my way of thinking, a bicycle is in the top five list of "best inventions of all time", the ultimate being, of course, the "book". I'm speaking in terms of machines that do the jobs they were intended to do, but also unlock human potential to a conspicuous degree. The whole philosophy of a bicycle is physically spiritual to me, especially a really GOOD bike, like my latest Schwinn. I always wanted a Schwinn when I was a boy, I drove a Huffy 10 speed 'Mt. Havoc' from brand new to completely gone in 7 years, 1997 to 2004. When I got the new Schwinn, I couldn't believe how much better of a bike it was than the Huffy. It occupies pretty much the same space, but its much, much lighter in mass. I think the Huffy is steel and the Schwinn is aluminum, that's what it feels like, it seems like its just as strong, but about 1/3 the weight. That may be an illusion of its synergy, that bike is overflowing with a natural tendency to roll forward, bearing the weight of the human body so its almost transparent, your legs are in full effect as far as transducing muscle and bone strength directly to the drive train, and yet it is completely comfortable, and feels totally natural to how the legs dangle toward the Earth's gravitational pull. The path of least resistence is divided into two symmetrical phases of alternating movement, pushing downward, but not pulling up, instead being pushed back up by the next downstroke. Gravity feels like it pulls down stronger than it pulls against "lifting up".
