CHRIS LEDOUX, COUNTRY SINGER/SONGWRITER, DEAD AT 56 Cowboy singer-songwriter Chris LeDoux has died at 56 in Casper, Wyo., after a long illness, a spokeswoman for Capitol Records Nashville confirmed Wednesday. Judy McDonough said LeDoux was admitted to the Casper Medical Center earlier this week following complications from ongoing treatment for cancer of his bile duct. She said he was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death. LeDoux was diagnosed with a liver disease in 2000. Six months after undergoing a liver transplant, he was back on tour. Late last year, he was diagnosed with cancer and began undergoing radiation treatment. LeDoux was a favorite on the rodeo circuit during the 1970s, and influenced numerous country artists, including Garth Brooks, who recorded the duet "Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy" with LeDoux in 1992. Mike Dungan, president and CEO of Ledoux's label, Capitol Records Nashville, said the company has always been proud to repre- sent LeDoux's music.
