ROD PRICE, GUITARIST, DEAD AT 57 Lead guitarist for the 1970s British rock band Foghat, Rod Price, has died following a freak fall at his New Hampshire home. He was 57. Price played lead and slide guitar with Foghat from the band's beginnings in 1971 until 1980, and then again from 1993-99, the Nashua (N.H.) Telegraph said Thursday. He died Tuesday morning after falling down the steps at his home in Wilton, N.H. "No one can understand it, it was just a freak accident," said family friend Ressie Berkebile. The newspaper said not many Wilton residents knew about Price's musical career, which resulted in such hits as "Slow Ride," and "Fool for the City." "He tried to downplay it a lot," friend Dave Berkebile said. "He was trying to put that past behind him." He is survived by his wife, Jackie, son Rory, stepsons David and Jessie, and stepdaughters, Robyn and Sarah.
