I don't agree at all. How could you physically pull off some good music in a group, if you are against the group? Music is about sharing, THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS. Another name for it is harmony. I think my favorite word for it has got to be rhythm. Its means "All Hitting At The Same Time". You're not supposed to fight your own side, how can you win? You have you working against you. Music can't function when it gets drownded out by "stardom". Its not something that CAN be stolen from someone else. Reading Dave Mustaine bitching about Pantera's popularity in 1994 blew my mind. He even accused Dimebag of copping his and Hetfield's style. When Dimebag got murdered onstage (I can't believe I'm even typing this), then I read where Mustaine was praising Dime, putting in a class of only two guys... Dimebag and himself. Now if he was just "joking", then I definitely "get it" and its funny as fuck. But I don't think that was the case. My pointr is: as a FAN, I Megadeth doesn't even come to mind when I listen to Pantera. Yes, I've listened to both groups, a lot. I used to listen to Metallica, too. But I'm more in the vein of Slayer, I hear Slayer's influence on Pantera, aside from that, I hear originality. Same with Megadeth. Mustaine is pissed about the MONEY. He thinks Pantera took some money Megadeth was gonna scoop up. Hey, dude, I'm not sure anybody who listen's to Dimebag gives a fuck what other bands do, or amount to. Who gives a fuck? Well, I do. Megadeth SNORTED all their money, at least Pantera's dad showed them how to invest in their own recording studio. Vinnie Paul, drummer, was their ace engineer and dial twiddler. But the reason they were succeessful is only because of ONE THING. People fucking LIKED them. Especially the guy who jumped onstage and destroyed everyone's heart at the same time. Musicians don't do shit like that. Its like the opposite of what's going on when a good band plays. Music is the best proof of everything that's obviously right and good for your soul, dehumanizing people is not necessary at all.
