I saw Slayer live in Aug. 88 in San Antonio on West Avenue, it used to be a small Piggly Wiggly, near where Nassau crosses. That's the neighborhood where Machinegun Kelly Of John Dillinger used to "hide out". I was about 20 feet in front of them, low ceiling. Aaron Slayfoot was there, he was 16, he beat himself up shaking his head and hitting the stage with his chest. Uh... How was it? How do you think? Do you know what it is to be 20 feet or less from Slayer, playing nearly full blast straight into your face? The audience is total chaos. The band is relaxed, pristine acrobats, flipping on trapezes and sword fighting... all with guitars of course. When they would feedback it was like a porcupine with THOUSANDS OF quills, each one a different frequency. 16 bit CD audio does not render Slayer as they really are. There's not enough molecules in a CD to reproduce it. Vinyl is much closer, but they KICK HARD onstage in the bass register..
