after learning there's 28 grams in 1 ounce, it was child's play to memorize engineering statistics. there's only one numbering system that's important to know, on a physical basis, and that's what a "db" is. like, :"that guitar should be 2 db louder", or "that synthesuzer needs -6 db, AT LEAST", it tells exactly how much to turn that annoying element down. its a real good idea to start training yourself by sheer repetition, to guess accurately your + or - db's, the numeric value, stick it in your mind as you go along. measure things bafore and after you change them, make note of how wrong you were. that's all you really need of math. perhaps describing frequency is unavoidable. frequency and amplitude <--- that's all there is
