Hahahaha Popz, good one! Anyway, as far as the preamp thingie goes: i've got my two turntables hooked up to a JBSystems Classic 6 mixing panel, which in turn is hooked up to an amp. The Classic 6 has two outputs: one going to the amp, and one which is labeled REC OUTPUT. Now, if i were to hook up the mixing panel to an external sound card (like the ones Creative, to name one, makes), this would suffice? On the subject of cleaning up the sound: no offense of course, but i find that unacceptable. The "hicks", "pops" and hisses are what makes vinyl Vinyl. It's all part of the experience. I have bought a few old records in the past year, and the "background chatter" just makes it more enjoyable. Of course, i wouldn't mind if it wasn't there, but i accept it because it's so typical to vinyl. A few weeks ago i bought Amon Tobin - Chaos Theory and AudioBullys - Shot You Down on vinyl, and they almost sound like a cd, so pure. Btw, should you be able to get of the "Chaos Theory" mentioned above, be sure to get it, whether on cd or vinyl or in mp3: It's a Masterpiece (and a soundtrack to a Splintercell game). And thanks POJ for the explanation, i'll look into it.
