As much as I love Live's interface, if I can do the same kind of thing in Reaktor, I'd be happy to stick with one program. The small amount of info I know about soundfonts: There's an sfz plug-in for Live, which I used the hell out of. All over the world, these crazy fuckers are recording old instruments and putting them into soundbanks, for use with Live and, I assume, other programs. So it's sampling, but it uses less space than wav. Soundfonts are similar to Reaktor ens files, in that they're very small, but pretty damn powerful. I just discovered this site - http://www.soundblaster.com/soundfont/tutorials/ - which explains this stuff far better than I can. I used them like mad in Live, especially the old toy instrument sounds. I love that stuff. Any old video game and sci-fi sound effects are great, too.
