I am 43 and last month started having major jerks on my left side. After a week of no sleep I went into the hospital and was diag. with myclonis seizures. I am taking 500mg dilantin a day and .25mg kalonipin about 7 times a day as needed ( the neurologist said take what you need until you start having side affects) I think he is more a jerk than my left side. I am still jerking a lot every day. I had a head injury 14 years ago on my right side just above the ear. I was unconsious for 3 days. I have also been experencing numbness on the left side of my head (the size of a baseball) just above the ear. I experance auras on occasion just before the jerks start. Sometimes I feel like a fish out of water I am jerking so hard. The Dr. doesn't care about the head injury or doesn't seem to feel it's important. Just take drugs and go home. I have been doing a lot of reading lately and it seems to me that myoclonic sezures are usually caused (at least at my age) by head trama or some kind of heavy metal exposure (which I haven't had) Does anyone have any information about this? Most of the myoclonic sezures I read about on this page are for children. Please post.
