WASHINGTON - If you are clumsy or lazy, but still enjoy an occasional jump-roping session, you are in luck. Lester Clancy has come up with the just the thing for you - a cord- less jump-rope. His invention consists of two handles, minus the rope, so you jump over the invisible "rope." Clancy has been holding onto the idea since 1988, but it was just this month that the U.S. Patent office awarded him a patent. Clancy explained that the moving weights inside the handles simulate the feeling of a moving rope. Not only is this invention perfect for the klutzy, but it's also good for mental institutions and prisons where rope is a suicide risk.
