Prince LIVE in Las Vegas is the best live gig I've ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. I've seen Frank Zappa and Jethro Tull several times each, and they are very hard to beat. Another group I saw live that was wonderful was Weather Report, with Miroslav on bass. I'll never forget that one. Also, The Mahavishnu Orchestra at Armadillo World Headquarters. That was truly awesome. They rehearsed for an hour and a half before anyone could go in, that was actually better than the show, playing numbers no one ever heard before, or since. That band was a marauding BEAST live. I never saw a band play super complicated leads in unison like that, 3 lead players playing the exact same thing. I like on the Prince DVD where the spirit of Jimi Hendrix makes a brief appearance. Prince was constantly paying tribute to the masters, James Brown, etc. He even had a big influence of Charlie Chaplin in his moves and way of dressing. The band was phenominal. I love the way Prince would constantly use an audible to stop the band on a dime, then he'd count off and BLAM, they'd come right back in.
