DARLENE CONLEY, ACTRESS, DEAD AT 73 Darlene Conley was an actress, who's career spanned fifty years, but she was best known for her performances in day- time television. In 1988 she took on the roll as fashion designer Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful, in which she played until her death. She has earned two Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy nominations since her first appearance in 1988. Conley began her acting career at 15 when she was cast in a touring production of "The Heiress," the Los Angeles Times reported. She later landed roles in the movies "The Birds" and "Valley of the Dolls" and on such television shows as "Murder, She Wrote," "Cagney & Lacey" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
