Yesterday I had a presentation about a so-called "Xen Clusterware Enterprise", which is a cluster of Servers set up in a network to interact with etc. etc. etc. you are not interested in this so let's just go on......... Anyway, I had this talk and it's the kind of stuff that's not too complicated if you're in this line of work. I have, however, quite some experience in teaching, and I know the basic book of teacher's tricks that you can pull on an audience but that never really work in front of an audience of adolescents. Well, I will tell you it WORKED on my manager.....I used all the buzzwords like "Quality of Service", "Customer Satisfaction", "Tune our system so it can give maximal performance" and the whole lot of BLAH BLAH BLAH(LALAIKA, sorry, I have a balalaika fixation since last week) anyway, the SUCKER fell for it, he was eating out of my hand and it was just soooooo fun I mean, holy beejeezus, I was aware of all the tricks in the book, but once you get in front of either adolescents or veteran scientists (sort of the same in some kind of sense) you learn that "THE TRICKS" never work in real life. But with tis stupid asshole it worked....all of it....he ate out of my hand, and I got him to applaud on my talk, just like you do in a real scientist's seminar, but NEVER do as a manager in front of your measly personnel....but the fucker Applauded me anyway. I be the power, you kneel before me you silly bleating elephant (we have mapped all our colleagues to a particular species of Elephant, and the asshole-manager in question laughs like he's swallowed a goat, hence the goat elephant link. Oh yeah, it's a nice brain to be alive in.
