BASS... how low can you NOT go?

from: dr. popeye-x 13-01-01

it reminds me of the TRAGEDY of how hip hop music has evolved in the past 25 years. it started with vinyl on turntables, with THE BASS jacked up as high as it would go, a direct descendant of reggae music actually, the whole philosophy of BASS as a way of life, using the analog multitrack to generate a new gospel, much like the gutenberg press generated the king james bible. then, satan used "convenience" as suckerbait and hip hop production moved away from the analog to the digital and landed in the lap top. immediately, bassaholics noticed a lack of GROUND underneath their feet, then it moved from the lap top to the cell phone. all the old school hip hoppers bailed saying "rap is dead" because it sounded like a ring tone, no BASS at all, and come to think of it, there are no DJ scratches either, so its over, right? not quite. the latest rash of hip hop "hits" are now being produced with what? not lap tops, not cell phones, nope, now an entire album is produced by one rapper with a tiny little mic and a HEARING AID. yes, its so "def", isn't it? and the BASS knob has gone the way of the turntable... no one even remembers what BASS sounded like, that was before they were born. "you can't lose something you never had", and that's the end of this story.
