the bass guitar playing on:
Van Halen Fair Warning Remastered

from: by dr. popeye-x, music deconstructionist and technical elaborator

i love the bass playing on this album, its really tight. its the way he mutes the notes with his fingers right before playing the next note. another way of describing it might be a "non-legato" aspect of the voicing of the bass notes not previously heard from michael anthony (who i never liked before this record). i absolutely loathe the background vocals (always have, always will), i also get tired of the way roth staggers the arrival of certain syllables rhythmically, so they come in a little late. in all fairness let me state his lyrics are great, most of the time. great drums and guitar. bottom line: i HATE sitting thru a listening to this band because they blow dead goats from an entertainment point of view. ANY band stomps their ass, especially jane's addiction, only one example, but a particularly devastating one. ;) best song: "saints and sinners" @9:08 click this link please: http://youtu.be/W0_VGLu7dGY?t=9m8s any bass player comments on the "improvement" this album debuts?
