One time I was getting dressed for a gig, and I found this striped shirt, white with light green-blue vertical stripes, I put it on, then I put on this military style hat, you know thet cloth hat that folds flat? Kind of a wedge on the head? Well, that hat, plus that shirt, made me look exactly like an ice cream man. I started dying laughing, so I said ok, I'm an ice cream man.

I went to the place we were playing, I walked in, and the people in the club and behind the bar saw me coming. It was a long way to the bar, about 100 feet, so they were all staring at me a long time while I walked up. When I got to the bar, the first thing I said was:
"Do you have any ice cream?"

That got a good laugh, so naturally that became the character for the night, I was an ice cream man, but I had no ice cream, so I was an ice cream man who was looking for some ice cream. That's twice as stupid as a mere ice cream man.
