18 U.S.C. 875 (c) Statute ::: Under this statute it is a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000 to transmit any communication in interstate or foreign commerce containing a threat to injure another. Section 875(c) includes threats transmitted in interstate or foreign commerce via e-mail or the Internet. ::: 47 U.S.C. 223 Statute ::: A provision of this statute provides that anonymous use of a telecommunications device to annoy, abuse, harass, or threaten any person is a federal crime, punishable by up to two years in prison. The statute also requires that the perpetrator not reveal his name. ::: This statute is broader than 18 U.S.C. 875 because it covers both threats and harassment. ::: 18 U.S.C. 2261A Statute ::: This statute makes it a crime for any person to travel across state lines with the intent to injure or harass another person and places that person in a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury. ::: SB 2991, 106th Congress ::: This bill revises the stalking provisions of the Federal criminal code to prohibit a person, with the intent to injure a person in another state or to put such person in reasonable fear of death or bodily injury, from using or causing another to use any facility of interstate or foreign commerce to place that person in reasonable fear of death or serious injury to the person. ::: Texas Penal Code Sec. 22.07. ::: TERRORISTIC THREAT. (a) A person commits an offense if he threatens to commit any offense involving violence to any person or property with intent to: ::: ~ ~ (1) cause a reaction of any type to his threat by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies; ::: ~ ~ (2) place any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury; or ::: ~ ~ (3) prevent or interrupt the occupation or use of a building; room; place of assembly; place to which the public has access; place of employment or occupation; aircraft, automobile, or other form of conveyance; or other public place; or ::: ~ ~ (4) cause impairment or interruption of public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service. ::: ~ (b) An offense under Subdivision of Subsection (a) is a felony of the third degree.
