Actually, if I remember right, Joe Sobel used to do his phone feed weather reports from Iowa, or somewhere deep in the midwest. We'd laugh about that alot on the phone. I was just a kid. He was already 'old' by then. He must be 100 now. He was cool.
I realize Brad Messer is back at his on-again, off-again gig at KTSA doing talkshow host 11a-2p. I can't imagine having to fill 3 minutes, muchless 3 hours with talk. But my close friends would argue with that....
Brad's a real pro...California markets were where he honed his skills, along with KILT in Houston among others. He used to write notes, literally, on the concrete wall in the old KTSA newsroom. They had curtains on that part of the wall, I guess to make a pretend window. You lifted the curtains and all you saw was scribble.
