A man was strolling along Delray Beach when he came upon a large bale of pot. Perhaps resisting the urge to indulge, he notified authorities. In all, about 500 pounds of marijuana, wrapped in burlap sacks, washed ashore on several south Flor- ida beaches. This prompted a late-night search for potential drug smugglers. The weed had a street value of $1.5 million. A police spokesman said this was an unusual circumstance. He added, "Every once in a while we get refugees washing up on shore, every once in a while we get dope washing up on shore."
