The Soft Machine --- 1967-70
Get into Volume Two, their second album. I love every molecule of it, I know it by heart. I think it ruined my life. I know their first 4 albums. I wasn't into #5, nor any more after that.
I have a really cool Soft Machine personal anecdote to relate, but I'm too tired to write it now. It might be called, "I Saw A 1970 Soft Machine Gig In San Antonio: Even Better, I Showed Up In The Afternoon And Watched Them Rehearse For Over An Hour"
The 13th Floor Elevators --- 1966-69
I was into the first two Elevators albums. If you wanna learn about them, read The History Of The 13th Floor Elevators, its online, a really fantastic site, I read it and got tears in my eyes at the end. Anyone who knew the era will be blown away by it.
