ROBERT STACK, ACTOR, DEAD AT 84 Robert Stack, the actor who had a 60-year career in film and television, died at his home in Los Angeles. Stack had radi- ation treatment for prostate cancer last year. He was 84.

Before WWII, Stack was known for delivering the first screen kiss to the young Deanna Durbin in his debut, "First Love," in 1939. After the war, Stack starred in multiple films in- cluding "Bwana Devil" (1952), the movie that started the dec- ade's 3-D craze. In 1956 Mr. Stack received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his role in Douglas Sirk's "Written on the Wind." When Stack's career stalled in the 1950s he gave television a shot and came out with "The Untouchables" of which he is most commonly known for. In 1960 Mr. Stack won an Emmy for the playing the role of Eliot Ness.
