eminem - the most prolific rapper of all time

jesus motherfucking christ, i've just downloaded and renumbered 913 tracks made by marshall mathers, AKA eminem, its taken me over 2 days. i've hardly ever even heard this son-of-a-bitch, but he's been steadily making and RELEASING rap records from 1995 until 2008. i've gathered up a grand total of 913 songs from 43 goddamn cd's. its very interesting, the variety and categories of records he's made. i guess when you've got almost unlimited capital to invest in studio time, its kinda cool to go so hogwild and coming out with so much stuff. he puts out more songs in one year than most artists put out in their whole career. can you imagine writing over 900 songs in 13 years? but then RECORDING them, PRODUCING them, and RELEASING them for people to buy? he even has one 2008 album called "attack of the martians" with him and lil' wayne taking turns doing freestyle raps, there's almost 30 of those sunza bitches! that's a very cool thing to do, in case you didn't know. lil' wayne seems to be the favorite rapper of just about every young person i talk to, not that eminem is old.

i read a detailed article in some high dollar magazine where eminem went into great detail about his studio experience and methods. i was kind of amused by what he said, he seemed like a class-A DUMBASS, the way he talked about dr. dre's "secrets", and programming beats, etc. but you gotta hand it to the guy, to release over 900 studio recordings is astonishing! that's about 75% of frank zappa's catalog of songs (approximately 1200 compositiions).

here's a little extra tidbit of information: gypsy doug used to marvel at great length about how claude morgan had a list of over 4,000 songs he wrote. i used to always have acerbic comments to reply with like: "oh, yeah? how many of those songs did he record and release for people to hear? i guess there's about 30?"

another common reply was: "4,000? wow, that's a lot. listen, i'm kind of pressed for time today, perhaps it would go faster if i only listen to about 1,400 right now, is that ok, doug? go ahead and pick out a 1,000 or so and we'll give them an audition right now, before lunch!"
